This is something we have never seen before. Yes, there have been some mods that claim to be durable but nothing near the specifications that the Aegis puts out. The sub-ohm mod not only can be shockproof but also completely waterproof and dustproof as well. We know that because we have tried it. We have put it through our own torture test. Our prediction is that, in the very near future you will see a lot of companies try to copy the ruggedness of the Aegis.

The Geekvape Aegis has a 26650 battery and it has an old-fashioned screw-in type of battery cap. Together with an 18650 adapter and other battery caps, it will allow you to run the Aegis with a 20700 or 21700 battery. It will fire as low as 0.05 ohms and its maximum voltage output is 9 volts.

The 0.96 inch screen is very sturdy and the firing button on this sub-ohm mod is just absolutely stunning. It has a complete temperature control suite and it will support Ni200, Ti, and SS 316. The main materials used to build this sub-ohm mod are zinc and aluminum and some rubber chassis. Aegis measures in at 37.8 mm by 46.8 mm by 88 millimeters.

Best Box Mod – 3. VOOPOO Drag

Don’t let the name fool you. The VOOPOO Drag is no joke. Equipped with the Gene chip, the Voopoo Drag reduces the firing time to only 0.05 seconds, which is the fastest in the industry. So there’s no lag from when vapers press the button to the vapor production. It is difficult to get back to a slower Mod after using the VOOPOO Drag Mod.

I especially liked the build quality. It feels solid in the hand and I never worry about it breaking in my bag when traveling. Overall, the VOOPOO Drag Box Mod is an all-round performer. From build quality to the advanced Gene chip, the VOOPOO Box MOD won’t disappoint you.

I switched the mod to TC mode with SS and set the temperature to 240℃ and wattage to 35W. Since this is TC, I didn’t expect to reach 35W but it allows the current to rise rapidly and produce vapor quickly. The Gene chip did a great job of monitoring the temperature of the coil and never allowed the coil to reach over temperature. I observed as the current to the coil fluctuated between 12A and 16A with a well saturated wick. When the wick was dry, the current dropped steadily, while the vapor production came down. The Drag mod performed perfectly, and I had never experienced a single dry hit. So the best box mod list should definitely include this beast!

Best Box Mod – 4. SMOK Alien 220W

Why this mod in my best box mod list? Here are my reasons. It is pretty compact for a mod with two 18650s. The ergonomics were well-thought out on this box mod. Because of its size and weight, it is easy to carry around. One of the best parts for the Alien is its rather big, bright display. Its main screen shows you the Watts, Ohms, Amps, Volts, Mode, Puffs and duration of each puff. The carbon fiber and diagonal inlays give the Alien mod a signature look. It’s difficult to talk about the mod without referencing its wavy design.

If you like beautiful clicky buttons, then you will love the Alien. The fire bar has just the proper balance between hardness and responsiveness. The left and right adjustment buttons are super clicky too. The USB port is at the bottom of the screen, which is the perfect location for it. Compared with its portability, the Alien puts out 220 Watts. That should be sufficient for just about any vaping style. Compared with other mods I have tested, Alien’s wattage output is accurate. The battery is efficient, especially considering the brightness of the LED display.

Is it the best box mod on the market? I’m not going to give you the answer. However, I would say that it is one of the best dual-18650 mods on the market currently. If you’re a beginner, or even if you’ve been vaping for a while, you really can’t go wrong with the SMOK Alien 220w.

Best Box Mod – 5. IJOY Captain PD270

The solid zinc alloy and carbon fiber frame of the iJoy Captain PD270, combine with two 20700 batteries. I can only describe it as a lethal weapon. If you threw it at anybody, that would be the end of them.

The 20700 batteries were originally developed for use in electric bikes, and considered for use in Tesla electric cars. They are a little larger than the 18650 which now know and love. For me, as a heavy vaper dual 20700’s really solve the annoying battery life issues I usually meet every day.

It is a relatively compact mod, just enough to house the hefty 20700’s inside and can accommodate atomizers up to 30 mm without overhang. It is also compatible with 18650 batteries with a 18650 adaptor.

No matter which batteries you use, the Captain is controlled by the IWEPAL chip, which you control through the side-mounted buttons and OLED, just like the SMOK Alien. The large square screen shows all the details of your vaping statistics and settings, including wattage, resistance, amperage, battery life, mode (power, TC, TCR), and puff count. The Captain PD270 box mod supports NI/TI/SS temperature control, TCR function, custom user mode, USB charging and firmware upgradeable.

According to IJOY, the Captain comes with 54 different color combinations—three different chassis colors: gunmetal, black, and rainbow. Each different chassis color will be wrapped in your choice of 18 different skin colors.
