Deciding which e-juice to purchase would seem like a simple process. Often at times, it is not because some tanks have limitations. The style of the tank being used dictates the type of e-juice required for proper operation. Read along as we uncover the deciding factors that will help you choose the right e-juice for your tanks.
Coils, ratios, flavor, nicotine and sweetener should be taken into account if you want to choose the right e-juice for your tank.
Coils are the major deciding factor when choosing the right e-juice for your tank. Rebuildable tanks are very versatile and can cater to many different types of e-juice based on how it is set up.
Tanks with disposable, prefabricated coils give you much less control so paying close attention to the coils resistance and recommended power levels is the best way to decide on the right e-juice. The lower the resistance and higher the power means you should choose between a 70VG/30PG and a Max VG blend.
Higher the resistance and the lower the power and a ratio of 50VG/50PG to 70PG/30VG should be selected.
E-Juice ratios are about the one thing that makes the most difference in the user experience. Making sure to select the correct ratio will end with positive results.
Firstly, you must decide if you want clouds or full flavor. The deciding factor between the two is PG (Propelyne Glycol) and VG (Vegetable Glycerine). PG will give you a harder throat hit while also carrying more flavor. VG is responsible for vapor production.
With these two main ingredients in mind, if you want a fuller and thicker vapor experience than you must choose a ratio with higher VG than PG. Heavy cloud chasers will use a Max VG E-Juice to obtain the best vapor.
Flavor chasers will select a higher ratio of PG, anywhere between 70VG/30PG to 70PG/30VG.
Flavor and Nicotine
The two final ingredients in e-juice are flavor and nicotine. When using a tank it is advisable to use an e-juice with a strong flavor. This is because the strength of the flavor is reduced in a tank compared to an RDA. Reading reviews on flavors is the best way to decide if it is a good fit for flavor intensity.
Nicotine strength is equally important when deciding which e-juice to choose. Lower nicotine strengths are recommended for tanks that work below 1ohm. This is because high nicotine strengths in a sub ohm tank will provide a poor experience. Harshness, nausea, and nicotine overdosing are all side effects of using a strength too high for sub ohm vaping.
If a high wattage, mouth to lung tank is being used then it is recommended to use a nicotine strength of 6mg or higher for full effect. A direct lung tank is being used then use a 3mg juice to get the full flavor without any adverse effects of the nicotine.
Lastly, sweetener must be considered when purchasing e-juice for a tank. Generally speaking, added sweetener will wear down the tanks coils much faster than one without. The sweetener caramelizes on the coils and leaves a thick black layer that tastes awful and renders the coils useless. Avoiding this in a tank application will extend the life of the coils greatly.
Taking all information into account, deciding which e-juice should be purchased is an important quest that should be fun. Each tank is going to be different so researching on forums or watching reviews is often helpful in finding out its limitations. Best of luck and happy vaping!
