Cotton Threads Make It Easy to Wick Your Coils

Want to be able to wick your RDA/RDTA in under a minute?

No more having to separate cotton trying to get the perfect amount and no more having to twist it to fit the coil! With cotton threads, you get the right amount every time. Fast wicking, long lasting, and absolutely no taste!

If you haven’t heard of cotton threads, then you really don’t know what you are missing, they make wicking your RDA/RDTA an absolute doddle, and very little waste.

If you’re like me I end up wasting half the pack of cotton, by the time I have pulled off, or trimmed off the bit I want, then cut it too length, twisted, thinned it, trimmed it again, threaded it, combed it, and trimmed it again. You end up with more cotton on the table than you do in your wick.

Cotton Threads

This is where cotton threads come in, pre-cut, pre-rolled, Pre-twisted. Effectively all the hard work (if you can call it hard work) is done for you. It comes pre-made and wick ready. Just literally poke and snip – with perfect wicks every time.

Quite a few companies have started producing cotton threads for the DIY market, so I thought I would take this opportunity to check some of them out, and see how they compare.

How do they all compare?

I have had the chance to try out each of these cotton threads, and surprisingly each one performed slightly differently, which I think comes down to the density of the cotton that has been wrapped.

I found the Demon Killer cotton was quite thickly packed and needed to be combed out, before threading, to avoid the cotton being to dense to wick.

Cotton Threads Make It Easy to Wick Your CoilsWhereas the LVS cotton was super loose and fluffy, and needed no combing, so you literally just have to pull it through the coil, and snip off the end, no  combing required.

The only issue I found was that the taped end of the cotton, measuring about 5 to 6ml, is just a little to wide for my coils I am using. It wouldn’t fit through, so I found myself cutting it off any way, and twisting it by hand, to allow it to fit through the coil.

I also found that the longer cottons, where just a bit of a waste, as you cut most of it off once you pulled it through, whereas the LVS and the Pilot cotton threads were just about right, and after cutting had very little wastage.

Recommendation

You can’t really go wrong with any of these cottons, as they all performed really well, and I loved the idea of having pre-cut, pre-twisted cotton, ready to thread. I think if I had to pick one, it would be the Vapefly, as I found it delivered great flavor, and still left me enough cotton to comb and adjust.  But I would recommend trying the cotton threads out for yourself, as it definitely makes wicking easier, with less waste.
