Mechanical devices have always been a personal favourite of mine. Choosing these devices over your standard regulated devices. I was sent this new Ehpro Armor Prime 20700 Mechanical Mod for the purpose of review. After testing it for several weeks I have mixed thoughts regarding this different take on the normal mechanical devices.
Let’s Take a Look at the Box and Contents
- Ehpro Armor Prime MOD
- Battery Adapter (18650)
- Battery Safety Card
- User manual
This reminds me of when I first started vaping a few years back. I started with pen style battery devices. This is very similar in the fact that you have a small button positioned towards the top of the device which is your firing switch, not positioned on the bottom like most common mechanical tubes, this light flashing when in use and also gives different colour indications.
The Armor is capable of firing coils with a resistance range of 0.2-1.2Ohms and has an output wattage of 3.5-4V. It also features short-circuit, overheat, reverse battery and 10-second cut-off protection. All of which can be seen by the use of LED lights as described below:
- The red light flickers 5 times – Battery Voltage is lower than 3.2V or output voltage is lower than 2.7V
- The red light flickers 10 times – Output overcurrent, low load or short circuit.
- The yellow light flickers 10 times – The temperature of the PCB reaches 85C.
- The green light flickers 5 times – Output time is over 10 seconds and will stop firing as an added safety feature
The added LED indicators bring another layer of protection to this new style mech mod and also give the indication of when the battery is running low, for me personally that’s a solid plus point and an added bonus included,
Battery Life Indicators
- Red light – lower than 30%
- Yellow light – between 30% and 70%
- Green light – over 70%
Now with other mechanical devices on the market, they cater for one size of the battery. The Armor Mech can accommodate either 20700 or 18650 battery. They include a solid plastic battery adapter for the smaller 18650 size which is included with the kit itself.
The paint finish on the device looks nice and appealing, however, on closer inspection, it looks like e-liquid residue dripping down the sides and I found myself wiping the device only to realise it was the paint finish.
Key Features of the Ehpro Armor Prime Mod

- Brass construction
- Resistance range: 0.2-1.2ohm
- Short-circuit protection
- Overheat protection
- Reverse battery protection
- 10S cut-off protection
- LED light indicators
- Compatible with 20700/18650 batteries(not included)
Using this device was enjoyable but not without its faults, the button gives an almost instant hit, however, I felt power was lacking compared to the original style of mechanical devices with the button positioned at the base of the tube and make an instant connection causing an instant hit,
I use the same coils and same cotton when testing so that it gives an even overall verdict. I compared this device to a standard mechanical tube mod and the difference between them was huge. Using the standard mechanical device you get the instant hit but again on the Armor, the power was lacking which for me was a disappointing factor, as I was looking forward to using this device in general. But saying this the general construction of the device is crafted very well, this is not appealing to me as I prefer more power and a faster ramp-up time, for those wanting a smooth slow vape then id recommend this for sure.

Ehpro Armor Prime Mech MOD Video Review
Overall I enjoyed using this device and the added protection they have included only makes this more appealing, I’d recommend this to people wanting to start using mechanical devices providing they have researched Ohms Law and Battery Safety for their own protection, for me there were a few negative points which I’ve covered during this review but there was also plenty of positive points also which I covered above.
My name is Matt and I’ve been vaping for around 3/4 years. I started vaping as a means to give up smoking and quickly developed a passion which in turn lead me to doing reviews on YouTube, Twitter and instagram.
I found the vape community and made many friends, attending expos and vape events across the uk and representing various brands also. My main aim is to share my knowledge and experience with the wider community and helping vape enthusiasts gain a further insight into this passion I’ve developed. Away from vaping I can be found working but my main hobbies include photography, ice hockey and boxing.
