Eleaf’s new iStick Pico S Kit includes the Eleaf iStick Pico S regulated mod and the Ello Vate Atomizer. The kit’s design presents a characteristic visually-“bare” battery-tube with a corroded texture on its surface, a honeycomb-designed 810 resin driptip and a decorative 7-coloured LED-“bar” of 5 LEDs.

Design Features & Usability
It’s a long way from the very first (and now worldwide-known as most reliable) “simple”, but able, original iStick Pico mod with its single-18650 battery, taking up to 22mm-diameter atomizers only, to this new iStick Pico S mod with its single 21700-battery, taking up to 26.5mm-diameter atomizers.
The iStick Pico S mod is capable of firing up to 100 watts by a single 21700-battery, also provided in the kit (optional) in the form of a high-drain Avatar AVB 21700-battery (4000mAh).
The Pico S is equipped with all the usual modes of operation and has a stealth mode, too. Functionality is almost similar to the original simple iStick Pico. There is a detailed online manual on the manufacturer’s website to download and check. So, I won’t mention anything on the mod’s functionality, except the fact that it also provides “pass-through operation” (vaping while charging), which is not mentioned in the manual (just don’t chain vaping while charging, because it gets too hot).
Its 0.91inch B+W OLED screen is easily readable and bright enough, but not under sunlight.
At the base of the mod there are 6 slanted ventilation slots.
It is firmware upgradable (no updates yet) and it fast-charges with 2A the battery inside.
The battery is inserted into a detachable aluminum tube (put battery’s negative-pole inside) with a corroded texture on its surface for easily screwing it onto the mod (inserted from the top of the mod) and for firmly holding it in your palm (it doesn’t slip at all in your palm due to its design shape, too). You might have to turn the mod upside-down to screw on the battery’s tube, for keeping the battery inside it. This whole design actually reduces weight, too.
Next to the tube, on the mod’s body there are 5 LEDs, flashing when firing it up, in 7 different colors that can be configured according to user’s preference (can be turned off, too).
It offers the basic protections: over-charging, over-current and reverse-battery.
The iStick Pico S kit’s Ello Vate clearomizer is accompanied with two glass tubes: a straight cylindrical one, providing 2ml-liquid capacity and a bubble/barrel-shaped one, providing 6.5ml-liquid capacity.
The Ello Vate clearomizer utilizes Eleaf’s new “HW-Net” (HW-N) and HW-Multihole (HW-M) coil-heads, hosting a dense perforated Kanthal grid for the HW-N coil-head and a standard Kanthal mesh for the HW-M coil-head. Both provide rapid and even heating, ensuring thus an upgraded vaping experience. The tank also accepts all of the HW-series coil-heads.
The coils-head’s liquid-inlet holes are actually 6 vertical slits around its outer surface. The bottom part of the coil-head is actually the lower part of the vaporization chamber’s “bell”, while its upper part is the top base of the tank. This design actually creates a relatively small vaporization chamber, increasing thus efficiency of heating.
The airflow ring, located on the clearomizer’s bottom base, snugly rotates, but firmly maintains its setting and it is also equipped with a stop. Airflow holes are more than adequate (in fact, they make the clearomizer too airy for some vapers, who need to substantially reduce the incoming air).
The top cap slides firmly to open for easy top-refilling. The EU/2ml version has a child-proof opening (first rotate the top cap by 180o and then slide to open).
For the top cap’s liquid’s refilling hole, there are two included options of its “tab” to use: one is wide-open (preferable for refilling with a pipette) and the other is covered with a thin elastic layer carrying a slot that subsides when the tip of the liquid’s bottle is pushed in. The latter tab actually suits someone who is refilling “on-the-go”.
Eleaf iStick Pico S 100W Kit Performance
It is a high-quality made vaping kit (seems durable as its predecessor), with a compact size for the performance characteristics of its operation (not as compact as the original Pico). It has an excellent paint job and isn’t rattling at all.
It feels solid in your palm and is held comfortably in it (as far as size, weight and operational usability), either you’re left- or right-handed.
Its ramp-up time is very short (it fires-up quickly).
There is no lock function, so turn it off for carrying it in your bag (5 fire-button clicks, as usually).
Using an 18650-battery provides small usage autonomy for the demands of the Ello Vate’s coil-heads. The included Avatar AVB 21700 (4000mAh) can provide a very good autonomy. And it can be fast-charged inside, with 2A by using your smartphones fast-charger.
The way Ello Vate’s coil-heads operate, along with its relatively small vaporization “bell”, condenses the remarkable amount of the produced vapour into a rich velvety puff with intense flavour. The puff is also smooth and relatively quiet for what the clearomizer is (just don’t adjust the air holes wide open). Liquid’s consumption is acceptable for the category of the clearomizer with such sub-Ohm coil-heads. Its 6.5ml-liquid capacity with the bubble-tube glass makes it more usable (even though getting out the battery’s tube for replacing the battery, with the tank on the mod, needs some attention).
The Ello Vate doesn’t provide flavour analysis of course (due to its coil-heads specifications/wattage), leaning rather towards flavour’s intensity.
The 810 resin driptip didn’t get hot even under chain vaping.
The packaging should also include a 510-driptip adaptor, since the Ello Vate covers from loose DTL down to loose MTL vaping styles with a very good performance (the latter style needs substantially closing the airflow holes and reducing the wattage to the lower values of the coil-head’s specs).
Coil-head’s lifespan is remarkably long (at lower wattage) and it could be even longer, if TC mode could be used. But, both coil-heads’ Kanthal wire doesn’t permit that.
Eleaf iStick Pico S 100W Kit Video Review
Eleaf iStick Pico S Kit’s design is quite distinctive. It’s a good quality kit with an able vaping performance at power mode (as a kit it can’t be tested under TC mode). Its paint-job is excellent (it is promoted as a high-quality and more able Pico, after all). It’s a relatively “small” weight/size kit (comparable to its ability), providing a good hold in your palm. But, keep in mind that the Pico S is not at the size of the original Pico (not at the same category, actually). The fact that it fast-charges a 21700 battery inside (with 2A) is also worth noting (less time to charge it).
Ello Vate tank’s performance is memorable, due to its characteristic vaping outcome (dense vapour production and more than adequate flavour’s intensity), but also due to the long lifespan of its coil-heads (if you use them appropriately).
Battery’s tube is somewhat unwieldy to use, at first.
The iStick Pico S Kit mainly excels due to:
- the Pico S distinctive design
- the Ello Vate’s vaping performance, originated to its special coil-heads.
I am not in the vaping business. I found vaping as the escape door from my 25 years of smoker’s imprisonment. It just took me four days of attempting to totally get out of it, thanks to the appropriate –for me- “equipment” (includes e-liquids). Now, vaping “equipment” has become another one of my fields of interest, for helping others to discover, on their own, their personally appropriate “equipment”.
I am a hands-on enthusiast… by genes. I am triggered by everything that evokes any data already stored in my knowledge base, been a Physicist and an Electronics Engineer (for more than 35 years). I am intrigued by everything new that my knowledge-filter considers interesting enough to be analyzed for entering into my memory compartment. That’s why you will find me open-minded and out-of-the-box thinking. I have an urge for unfolding hidden “pictures” of design thinking on everything man-made.
