The iJoy Avenger 270 is one of the latest and greatest box mods from the mammoth Chinese company. I was lucky enough to get one of these to test and review for you.
iJoy Avenger 270 Specifications
The iJoy Avenger 270 is the latest dual 20700 mod, that comes with a maximum power output of 234W. It supports temperature control (NI, SS & Ti), variable wattage in 0.5w increments, flashing lights and voice control…..yes that’s right VOICE CONTROL!!!
This is the first mod that I have seen that includes this “AI” type feature and there will be a little more on that later.
The device is slightly tapered at the edges and stands 89.8mm tall and 50mm wide. The spring loaded 510 connector is central to the device so even a 30mm atomiser does not overhang.
There is a bright colour screen that measures around 1 inch and RGB wattage up and down buttons on the front that can be customised to your taste. The fire button is more of a bar along the left hand side of the device and it has a very nice tactile click and is very easy to use.
Voice Control
Yes I have repeated myself once again, but this device has voice control. This is the first of its kind and is designed to allow changes of settings without touching the device. In theory its quite cool but in practice it is a little bit pointless. Yes you can change your wattage by speaking to it, but realistically you need to pick it up to vape anyway!
How does iJoy Avenger 270 work?
As with all “AI” voice controlled devices these days, there is a “wake up” word or phrase (think “OK Google, or “Alexa”) and this is “Hello iJoy”. By saying this phrase you notice the voice control symbol appears on the screen. You can then say certain phrases that will be undertaken by the “AI” of the device.
Having tested this out extensively, the voice control actually works very well in undertaking the commands, however I still think they are a little bit pointless.
Also the “romantic light” option didn’t do much to set the mood in my house unfortunately!
iJoy Avenger 270 Build Quality
These days mods are much of a muchness and the big difference for me is build quality. Features like “AI” do not hold a candle to how the device feels in your hand and the quality of the design. The iJoy Avenger 270 is heavier than most (316g with batteries) and took me by surprise when picking it up for the first time.
This is understandable as there is a microphone and more computing inside the device for the voice control. I personally prefer a heavier mod as it tends to give a feel of quality, but I think this is as far as I would want to go with something in my pocket.
All around the quality is very good other than the battery door. I feel like this wants to open further to make inserting the batteries easier, but I find that mine just feels a little bit stiff.

iJoy Avenger 270 Final Thoughts
This device has intrigued me and I love that iJoy are pushing the boundaries of features in a mod. Yes this is a bit of a gimmick but the fact that they are able to do something like this, opens the door for more features in the future.
Fortunately you can turn off all the tricks and lights. When using this as a standard mod with a clear colour screen, great battery life and a solid feel, is a great experience and all in all I am very impressed with the device!
Also you have to love the fact that it looks like Iron Man! Avengers Assemble!!!
