Hello there! I’m back with another review for you all today. A few months ago, IJOY released a unique mod called the Diamond which was a dual 20700 device. Today we are gonna be taking a look at a new release from IJOY; the IJOY Diamond Mini. It’s a 225 watt, dual 18650 box mod that’s a smaller version of the original Diamond. Let’s take a look at how it functions and all the details of the IJOY Diamond Mini.
IJOY Diamond Mini Packaging
The IJOY Diamond Mini comes in a black box with a sleeve around it. The front has a glossy picture of the Diamond Mini in the color that’s inside. On the back is a description of the mod and contents list of the box. Slide off that sleeve and you find a box with nice looking carbon fiber look and texture. Open the top and you find your IJOY Diamond Mini with some screen protectors on each side to shield it from scratches. Lift out your mod and look underneath the top tray and you have a manual, warranty card and micro USB cable. This version only contains the mod and isn’t the full kit with the tank and mesh coils.
The IJOY Diamond Mini
The Diamond Mini mod is a smaller version of a larger mod IJOY released earlier this year called the Diamond that took 20700 batteries. The Diamond and the Diamond Mini get their name from the shape. The mod has lots of angles and facets like a beautifully cut jewel.
The Diamond Mini takes dual 18650 batteries, fires between 5 – 225 watts in wattage mode and has a user mode where you adjust the wattage each half second for the first three seconds of your vape. It does TC for NI, TI, and SS wire. TCR and memory functions are also available in the TC menu.
On the mod itself, the front and the back are both shaped like a cut Diamond to give it a fluid look. The frame is metal and is a matte black on this model because it’s the black version but the color of the frame will be whatever color you choose. Regardless of the color you choose, you will have black plastic panels on the front and back and shiny and polished like glass.
The IJOY Diamond Mini Continued
The front side has a large OLED screen that has tons of information and the back panel covers the battery compartment. The screen displays all the info you need like individual battery meters, ohms, amps, volts, wattage, puff counter, last puff time, and which power like soft, normal or hard. It’s a lot of information. Under the screen is a micro USB port and near the bottom is the up and down buttons which are also shaped like cut gems and have a nice click to them.
On the left side of the screen is the fire button that has multiple diamond cut angles on it, sticks out far enough to easily find and has a nice click to it. The battery cover is held in place with two strong magnets and on the bottom corner is a notch to use your fingernail to pop the cover off.
Once that panel is removed, “IJOY” is engraved above the tray and in the very clean battery tray, positive and negative are clearly marked as well as A and B so you can monitor each battery on the screen. On the top is a center mounted, spring loaded 510 that has a wide platform and the way it’s designed, can sit up to a 30mm tank or RDA with no overhang. That’s pretty amazing because the mod is smaller than most dual 18650 mods.
IJOY Diamond Mini Performance
Using the IJOY Diamond Mini has been a pretty enjoyable experience. The mod fires very fast so the ramp up from the original Diamond mod has been fixed and that’s great. The customization of wattage mod with the “hard and” soft and user mode gives you a vast number of ways you can deliver power to your coils.
Personally, I like the user mode where you adjust the wattage each half second. In TC mode, I wasn’t able to get a good, smooth experience. I was using 316L Clapton single coil and it was too hot. I lowered the temperature and wattage lower then I felt it should be and it still seemed like it was firing a little too much power and felt a little too hot at the end of my draw. I’m a wattage vaper anyways so it’s not a big deal to me but if your strictly a TC vapor, this might not offer the best experience for you.
Wattage mode, on the other hand, performs great and hits however hard or easy you want it to with all of the custom curves. While you can fine tune your vaping experience, settings for the mod itself is slim. All you can adjust is the screen timeout. No brightness or anything like that so the mod can’t be changed much from stock.
IJOY Diamond Mini Video Review
The IJOY Diamond Mini is basically what the name says, a mini version of the original Diamond. That aside and strictly looking at this mod, it’s a small, very comfortable to hold dual 18650 mod. The rounded shape really does feel good in the hand.
I’m really liking how small dual 18650 devices have been getting lately because having such long battery life in a compact package is fantastic. Having a centered 510 that supports up to a 30mm on top is also a huge pro to me.
I’ve been using a 28mm tank on mine and it looks great! Cons for the device would be that the screen is dim because of the black plastic over the screen but it has to be that way for the front and back to match. It’s only in the sun that it’s hard to see. TC mode didn’t seem to function the greatest.
Sum Up Continued
Maybe you can adjust TCR or lock resistance and make it better but I’m a wattage vaper so not a big issue for me. Lastly, the battery door has some very slight play. You can really see it move, only feel it because it’s so minuscule. Other than it’s a great device.
I love the way it feels in my hand and fits in my pocket. It delivers power fast and is easy to modify the way it gives you that power. Also being able to fit big tank or drippers on here with no overhang is fantastic. I had a 30mm RDA on mine Diamond Mini last night and it doesn’t look ridiculous. It fits flush. That’s a big pro. Overall, I like the mod a lot and will definitely continue using it when I need a dual 18650 device.
Thanks to everyone for reading. I’ll be back soon with more reviews and articles for you all to check out. I hope everyone has a great day and enjoy your vape and be happy your not smoking.
