The Joyetech Exceed NC with the Notchcore Tank Kit, is a new starter stick style device from Joyetech.
The main draw of this kit is it’s small, lightweight, easy to use and easy to carry and is also a separate battery and tank and not an AIO. It’s similar to the Vaporesso Cascade One Plus and Eleaf iJust3, but for lower watts.
The mod itself is solid and feels really well built. The paint is excellent as well and looks like a clear coat with a gloss finish. The mod uses a 5 click to turn on and off. There is a front-facing LED inside the see-through tinted fire button that lights up when firing. When charging there is a small pinhole light under the USB that stays lit and turns off when it’s fully charged.
The Mod is semi-adjustable like the Berserker where it has 2 modes. 1 mode is direct output so output will go down as the battery drains. The other mode is constant output where it’ll put out a constant low volt output.
The LED has 2 colors white for direct output mode and orange for constant output mode. The battery meter is based on how fast the LED flashes. If it stays lit it’s 60% or higher. The faster it flashes the lower it is.

I would have preferred colors personally as I find it easier but this system works well enough. It features a built-in large 2300mah battery which is a nice size for this kind of device. The stick is just really nice overall and beautiful. They don’t list a charge rate but it does have passthrough vaping.
It comes with the Notchcore tank which is a 22mm low watt DTL tank that can also be used as a lose MTL tank with the air closed off a lot. It sits flush with the battery as well. I’m quite familiar with the tank already as I reviewed it when I did my review of the silk kit.
The tank comes with a standard 2.5ml capacity glass. The 2.5ml capacity is ok in this. The AFC is smooth and easy to adjust and on a stopper. They use 2 large bottom airflow holes equally spaced apart. They also include a black Delrin standard 510 tips.

The coils are installed by clicking them into place in the base of the tank. Almost like an RDA but with no tools needed. Really easy to do. The fill method is your standard slide back which is clearly marked on the tank and easy to use.
It comes with 2 coils, but both are the same and the only coil made for the tank. They are .45 ohm SS304 notch coils that come pre-wicked but can also be re-wicked rated at 20-25 watts.
The coils work equally well with 50/50 high MG nice salts as they do with 70/30 medium MG juices you’d use in any sub ohm tank. The coils are pretty good and universal and inexpensive. When I used it in the silk kit I used around 15-18 watts for MTL and 25-30 watts for DTL so this kit will reply on if the battery can properly power the coils or not.
So far they are working quite well in both constant output and direct output. I like using the direct output with the 70/30 juices and air half open and the constant output with the air almost fully closed and 50/50 high MG nic salts.
Joyetech Exceed NC Starter Kit Video
Overall, the Joyetech Exceed NC starter kit has all the makings to fill the need for this style device as a low watt beginner stick style kit.
I started vaping in late 2011 to quit chewing tobacco. over the past few years i got a lot more into the hobby side and buying and collecting a lot of gear. Fed up with the lack of good fair reviews i decided to start doing reviews late 2016 and haven’t looked back. I enjoy providing people with technical reviews that are fair and unbiased and from a place of knowledge to help them spend their money wisely.
