Initial Impressions on NewGen Quark RDA
When I first got this RDA and opened it up I thought it looked like a better version of the drop solo or basically what the drop solo should have been. It’s pretty much the same RDA except with a deck that makes much more sense and won’t snap on you. It’s almost like they took the drop solo as a baseline and said let’s fix all the issues with it so I was pretty impressed and yes I’ll be making that comparison a lot in this review.
Build Deck and Wicking
Let’s talk about the build deck now. It’s a 2 post, not 1 per post deck with the posts being diagonal across from each other. This allows a good size coil in it. It also makes it very easy to build on. The notches are large enough for fancy wires to fit on too and it also works well with round wires.
Very easy to build on the deck and the deck notches are high enough to align your coil with the side airflow. The post screws come top down as well so won’t twist flat wire builds. The post screws are also good quality hex grub screws which are my favorite. Overall one of the easiest decks to build on that works great with round and fancy wires.
Wicking on it is quite easy. It’s an RDA so nothing fancy just drop your leads to the bottom.
NewGen Quark RDA Performance
Performance wise, I used it as a Single Coil RDA as intended. I ran 4 builds in this a fancy 3mm ID builds, a fancy 3.5 mm ID build, a fancy 4mm ID build and 1 simple round 4mm ID build.
For size, I found it worked best with the 4mm ID and the fancy builds. Really not an RDA made for round wire or smaller builds. It loves a big build. Flavorwise it’s above average if you stuff a big build in there.
There isn’t really a killer single coil RDA out there, just a lot of good ones that are similar and work well and close to each other. With the right build, the NewGen Quark RDA is right up there with them so an overall good flavor with the right build in it.
Let’s talk about the airflow now. A standard side airflow RDA with 5 small holes on each side. It has 2 rows with 2 on the top and 3 on the bottom staggered like you’d see cups in a game of beer pong.
It’s a pretty airy DTL single coil RDA but what they did really well is you can close off 1 hole at a time to dial in how you want. It starts closing off the top right hole then the top left hole then bottom left hole then bottom middle hole so all the way down is just the bottom left hole only open.
They say it’s MTL and it’s pretty close to that. I’d call it a loose MTL vape but still not an RDA I’d use for MTL personally with the big open chamber and the coil not very close to the air holes at all and the fact it needs a big coil. It’s best used as a DTL or restrictive DTL vape.
Adjusting the airflow is easy. You just spin the top part of the top cap and the o-rings are a nice size to make it easy to do. There is a nice grip on the top part of the top cap and it’s really easy to spin and adjust on or off a mod. The top cap does not lock into place but It’s easy to get on or off the mod. Very well done there. The top cap o-rings are good and it’s easy to pop off and on.
It comes with 1 standard 810 friction fit drip tip and 1 standard 510 o-ring drip tip. I’m glad they included both. Other 810 tips I used both friction fit and o-ring ones fit good as well.
The drip tip you get depends on the color option. The SS comes with Delrin tips while the black and rainbow come with Ultem tips. They also include a 510 adapter so you can use pretty much any drip tip on the RDA which is great. The 510 adapters will also be Delrin or Ultem depending on your color choice.
The drip tip fits very well in the RDA, snug, not loose, not tight. The quality of the NewGen Quark RDA is good. The o-rings for the top cap onto the base feel right and the top cap is snug but not tight. Very easy to take apart with no issues.
The AFC is easy to adjust, the o-rings fit just right and everything is nicely done. The post screws are excellent quality as well and 2 spare screws are included (both hex grub screws). It comes with a standard 510 pin and a BF 510 pin like most RDAs these days as well.
The juice well is a good size. Considering the height of the air holes with the top cap on I consider it to be pretty large. The over-squonk protection and over-drip protection are pretty good. The side airflow is high enough up that it doesn’t cause any issues leaking when dripping or squonking.
Overall Extras Continued
I only used it as a dripper as I’m not currently working on a review for any squonk mods but I did put it on a squonk mod just to test it real quick and it worked well. As a dripper, you can drip right down the drip tip without taking off the top cap. It’s a 22mm diameter so should not overhang on most mods on the market today.
Accessory wise, there is plenty of spare o-rings and 2 spare post screws, 2 Allen wrenches, 1 510 tip adapter, 1 coil, and the 2 drip tips. Good amount of accessories overall.
The only thing I feel missing would be some cotton but not a big deal. The coils don’t come labeled however which is disappointing and they will get dinged for that. They look like fused claptons 3mm ID 5/6 wraps by my estimate but no label on the material. Manufacturers should always label the complete specs including the metal used on included coils.
Branding is very simple and nice. Just the word “Quark” on one side between the air holes in a script font engraved. Very nice there and it’s engraved in a matching color so doesn’t stand out too much except on the black.

NewGen Quark RDA Video Review
So with all that said, do I recommend the NewGen Quark RDA? I don’t like to do a hard yes or no, but this one leans towards the yes. It’s essentially a better version of the drop solo that’s cheaper. It’s not a killer single coil RDA but I haven’t seen one of those yet. Just a lot of really good ones that are similar in performance and this is right there with them. If you like DTL vaping and pretty big builds this is well worth the look.
I started vaping in late 2011 to quit chewing tobacco. over the past few years i got a lot more into the hobby side and buying and collecting a lot of gear. Fed up with the lack of good fair reviews i decided to start doing reviews late 2016 and haven’t looked back. I enjoy providing people with technical reviews that are fair and unbiased and from a place of knowledge to help them spend their money wisely.
