OBS Crius 2 Dual Coil RTA Introduction

The OBS Crius 2 Dual coil RTA is the latest RTA from popular vape manufacturer OBS. It’s the follow up to the original Cruis II which was a single coil RTA that I loved. It uses a unique single clamp style deck. It’s available in 2 colours Black and SS, although their website shows a concept of a blue colour which could be available at a later time as well.

The Market is booming for dual coil RTAs and has been for quite a few years, so the Crius II Dual coil enters a crowded market but does a good job of being different in a good way. I love that they include a resin drip tip as it makes it stand out a little more. Both colours come with a black resin tip with some silver marbling on it. The 4ml capacity is a good size for a dual coil RTA and the JFC is nice and smooth and easy to use. It’ll also prevent you from over tightening the atomizer on your mod. Overall I really liked this from the start.

OBS Crius 2 Build Deck and Wicking

Let’s talk about the build deck now. It uses a single clamp style deck where you have to install both coils at the same time. It’s also spring loaded to make this easier. There is a large zirconia block in the middle to separate the positive and negative posts. The original Crius II used a zirconia clamp. I have to say I really like the use of it, I had no issues with melting like I’ve seen from some RTAs with a peek insulator in the middle like the troll RTA. It also doesn’t absorb heat and get hot like I’ve seen with big metal block decks like the troll RTA and Boreas V2 RTA. It reminds me a lot of the DOT RDA deck.

There is a single screw in this that is Phillips and a really good quality, even though personally I would have preferred a hex or flat head one. They got rid of the triangle head screw from the original Crius II which I’m glad since most people don’t have triangle head screwdrivers. It doesn’t come with a spare screw. The building is easy as unscrewing the screw raises up clamp thanks to being spring loaded. Just insert your coils with 1 leg above the zirconia block and 1 leg below it and screw down to secure both in place. Very easy to build on just like the dot RDA and shouldn’t be an issue for most builders.

Wicking is pretty easy overall. Just make sure you don’t wick too tight and fluff the cotton ends and place them gently in the wick holes which is clear to see.

OBS Crius 2 Dual Coil RTA Performance

Performance wise, I used it as a Dual Coil RTA as intended. My max recommendation is 3mm ID however 2.0-3.5 also worked well. I’d say 3mm is the ideal. I ran mostly fancy wires such as fused Clapton and aliens but also ran a couple of round wire builds. All of them worked well but I prefer the fused Clapton personally. Overall the flavour was well above average for a dual coil RTA. One of the best I’ve had recently. Very impressed with the performance on this.

OBS Crius 2 Overall Impressions, Details, and Extras

It’s a quad bottom only airflow RTA. Instead of 2 large holes on the bottom, they went with 4 smaller ones. Bottom air is easily adjustable and on a stopper. The knurling gives it a nice grip and it’s very smooth and can be adjusted to the mod. It’s a full DTL vape but not too airy. It comes with a Resin 510 drip tip The quality is really nice on this RTA. All the threading is smooth, the JFC is easy to operate. It’s just a well built RTA. It’s a 25mm diameter so should not overhang on most mods. The airflow is pretty smooth and not loud. It has the standard OBS fill method where you pop up the top and fill through the large hole.

  • Great Flavor
  • Good Capacity (4ml)
  • Standard 510 tip (Resin)
  • Easy to build (great build deck)
  • Price point
  • Smooth JFC
  • Good quality

  • Would have preferred a flathead screw or Hex screw
  • No spare post screw
  • Lack of colour options

OBS Crius 2 Dual Coil RTA Conclusion

So with all that said, do I recommend this RTA? I don’t like to do a hard yes or no, this one I’m going to lean heavily towards the yes. It was hard to find many cons with this RTA and it has great flavour and great quality. OBS has really impressed me as of late. I wasn’t a fan of their engine a few years ago, But lately, they are making some really good atomizers and the Crius 2 dual coil is no exception. It’s well worth picking up if you are in the market for a new dual coil RTA.

I started vaping in late 2011 to quit chewing tobacco. over the past few years i got a lot more into the hobby side and buying and collecting a lot of gear. Fed up with the lack of good fair reviews i decided to start doing reviews late 2016 and haven’t looked back. I enjoy providing people with technical reviews that are fair and unbiased and from a place of knowledge to help them spend their money wisely.
