Hello everyone, John Pietersma here. Today we will talk about the Smoant Campbel 80W VW Kit.
Innovation in vaping is a machine that never shuts down. Every hardware maker across the world tries their hand at creating new and innovative technology that will revolutionize the industry. Over the years we have seen some really interesting things come and go while some stay.
Remember the Vape Phone or the Vape Phone Case? It came around a few years back touting the ultimate all in one package. Well, that is one of those items that came and went pretty quickly. It was gimmicky and overall, not very good. The phone specs were weak and overall hardware reputation did not meet the price of the item.
Then, you have things like Squonk devices or RDTA tanks. These items revolutionized the future of vaping. Both items are still available today. Squonking is extremely popular while a lot of old school RDA fans truly love the RDTA for the convenience.
Today we look at a rather established company who is taking their turn at innovation. The device in question is the Smoant Campbel 80W VW Kit. It looks ridiculous and the overall function is equally as foolish but, maybe its the device you have been looking for.

First Impressions on Smoant Campbel 80W VW Kit
Taking the very first look at the Smoant Campbel, it truly is striking. Not in the beautiful, artistic design kind of way but rather a sore thumb, stand out in the crowd kind of way.
The Campbel Mod is a very small mod but the tank and filter assembly are absolutely huge. As small as the mod is, the tank and filter combined are over 140mm in length and the overall proportion looks really out of place. That aside, it might win over the hearts of some adventurous vapers.
Smoant is a very familiar and established name in the vaping world. They have seen great success with many devices and have a decent following of dedicated vapers. Devices like the Charon, Cylon and Battlestar are names everyone is familiar with. The quality of the Smoant Cambel is sure to stand up to expectations for this brand.
The overall concept, which seems ridiculous is that the filter section is designed to hold soda/pop/soft-drink. I told you it sounds ridiculous. Without a physical sample, it is difficult to say how much of an effect this may have.
I personally do not believe that this is going to works as advertised, at least not without some wine boutique pairing level information. Do you think Coca Cola is going to pair well with a frosted donut? Cream Soda with Gingerbread Cookie? The owner of the device would really need to do some serious sampling to find a good flavor pairing between the sodas and the e-juice in the tank.
This also has the potential to be a horribly sticky mess. Smoant is going to want to make sure that they have zero chance of the filter section leaking while in use. Looking at it another way, it is supposed to be a “filter“. Is it going to cut down vapor production as it passes through the liquid? How much is it going to kill the e-juice flavor? I suspect it is going to seriously throw flavors off, mute flavors and not work very well.
The Performance of Smoant Campbel 80W VW Kit
So, design and innovation aside. The Smoant Campbel 80W operates from a single 18650 battery. The device is capable of reaching a maximum output of 80W, more than enough for intermediate or novice vapers.
Looking to the tank, the Campbel tank, as it is called. This tank can hold a maximum of 3ml of e-liquid,which seems quite small considering the device power. I could see this needing to be refilled frequently if it is used regularly.
There is only one coil option which is a single NI80 coil. The recommended wattage is a max of 60W and the resistance is 0.2ohm.

It is probably pretty clear my opinion on this new device. I think it looks silly and I think the design and concept are setting it up to fail. Some oversights in design will prevent this device from becoming something that could have been really interesting.
Flipping the coin over, I could be completely wrong. The Smoant Campbel 80W VW Kit could find its way into the hands of many vapers, given the reputation and brand that Smoant has built.
